The three simple concepts when you play texas holdem poker are the value bet, the bluff and the semi bluff.
In a value bet you expect to have the better hand, want a call and expect to win because you believe your hand is better than the hand your opponent will call with. The bluff is the opposite of a value bet where you actually have a weak hand, and you desire your opponent to fold even though your hand does not have the required strength. A semi-bluff is a back-up plan for winning. If it doesn't succeed as a bluff, the hand can still improve to the best hand on the next card.
But there is a newer concept called the semi-demi bluff. It is a refined version of the semi-bluff. It has more value than a semi-bluff or a value bet. You may have the best hand at the time you make it, and it may convince your opponent to fold as a bluff.
There are three points needed to be taken into consideration for a semi-demi bluff. The first is whether you are likely to have the best hand. Each situation is different, but consider the two other possibilities as well before deciding. The second is the chance that your hand will succeed as a bluff. Finally, consider the possibility that your hand will improve to a Flush.
Thus, as we see, the gambling value of a semi-demi-bluff is greater than a pure bluff or a semi-bluff. It also means that it might be prudent to bet a hand of middle strength when that strength is added on top of both, the probability that the hand will improve and the likelihood that the wager will persuade the opponents to concede.
